CRUEL LAB TESTING ON BEAGLES
Stop Animal Abuse By Government Funded Labs

In a recent press release by White Coat Waste Project, a taxpayer watchdog group that fights to end wasteful and cruel animal experiments, it exposes the government who not only funds TRS Animal Testing Labs in Athens, Georgia where 700 beagles are currently imprisoned there, but also purchases the harvested heartworms from these animals after testing.
These puppies are turned into living breathing Petri dishes and incubators for parasites. The National Institute of Health grants millions in tax payer dollars to fund the continued cruel and abusive animal testing on these innocent animals. First they inject the puppy with heartworm larvae and for 6 months the worms feast on its heart and lungs. Then the puppy will then develop a persistent cough, its belly swells and once these heartworms mature, they are harvested and the animal is slaughtered. Then another round of abuse begins on a new set of innocent creatures.
To show the level of abuse and cruelty these animals are subject to, the TRS white coat technicians could actually cure the animal of the heartworms after testing, and give it a chance at a normal life, but they can’t be bothered so it’s more convenient to kill them and throw them away like trash. There is no public information on TRS Labs so any search one attempts will come up empty, due to the covert operations and lack of transparency as to the unspeakable cruelty and abuse that is being inflicted on thousands of all kinds of animals, by this company.
In a report by the New York Times in 2023, almost 4000 Beagles who were bred for research at the Envigo breeding and research facility in Cumberland, Virginia were rescued after a 60-day long operation. The Beagles were bound for labs and rescuers found the animals kept at the Envigo facility were living in distressful conditions, were underfed, mistreated, ill and injured, and some had been euthanized.
The report stated that “thousands of other dogs were released over two months to shelters, rescue organizations, foster owners and adoptive families after federal officials found that the breeding facility had safety violations”. Many adoptive and foster families of the rescued Beagles spoke of the trauma suffered by these precious animals and the transitioning period that was very difficult, but the love, patience and gentle care provided was all that was needed.
What is astounding is the lack of transparency required by these organizations which are located all across America and allowed to continue these abusive and cruel practices. Any reports that are actually provided to the government by these animal breeding and testing facilities are mostly vague, limited and usually only mention one or two animals being bred or tested because many other animals, birds and amphibians have been excluded from coverage by the Animal Welfare Act. Therefore these reports do not include most of the animals being tested. Animals such as monkeys, chimpanzees, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, pigs, sheep, goats and more, so they are simply not mentioned and not counted.
The White Coat Waste Project website states the “White Coat Waste Project is a taxpayer watchdog group representing more than 2 million liberty-lovers and animal-lovers who all agree: taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to pay over $20 billion every year for wasteful and cruel experiments on dogs, cats, monkeys and other animals” and organization’s goals are to: 1) FIND THE WASTE - Investigate and analyze wasteful government spending on animal experiments. STEP 2: EXPOSE THE WASTE - Educate a new generation of taxpayers on how their money is being wasted and STEP 3: DEFUND THE WASTE – Build a diverse coalition of liberty-lovers, animal-lovers, doctors, scientists and bipartisan lawmakers to stop wasteful government spending on taxpayer-funded animal experiments. The group focuses on exposing and opposing the use of millions of tax dollars to torture dogs and puppies in mad science experiments funded by the U.S. government.
